Contingency fund department is ringing on alert, keep these things in mind to avoid losses
New Delhi, November 5, 2021: In order to reduce fraud, the Employee Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has warned its members not to share essential information about their EPF account, personal information or OTP by phone or by line.
In view of the growing threat of OTP scams and other EPF-related issues, EPFO has issued a fraud advisory. In accordance with EPFO’s advice, EPF members should not share personal information such as their Aadhar card number, PAN, bank account number or UAN number with anyone on WhatsApp or social networks because they risk losing their money. EPFO sent a message to all members via its official Twitter account.
The tweet read: “EPFO never asks its members to share personal information like Aadhaar, PAN card, UAN, bank account or OTP by phone or on social media.
EPFO also published a graphic with the tweet that read: “Watch out for scammers! To alert members to the dangers they face. EPFO tweeted that it “never asks for money for any service through WhatsApp or social media, etc.” EPFO recommended that members not respond to calls or texts asking for personal information or sharing OTPs, as this could lead to fraud. People can contact EPFO through its official website www.epfindia.gov.in for any question, suspicious call or message, or any other problem.

EPF members must register their documents online on Digilocker, a secure, cloud-based, government-sponsored platform for document security, sharing and verification. To use the services of DigiLocker, which are available for Android and iOS users, you must first log in. EPFO services such as UAN cards, pension payment orders (PPO) and plan certificates are all available on Digilocker.
