ALBION — Wanting to help educate, inform and eMpower their customers, M-Power is expanding its services.

After three years of serving the community, M-Power has opened a physical location at 13896 Telegraph Rd. in Albion. Officially opening its doors on Friday, M-Power brings together independent contractors and brokers specializing in health insurance.

“Our process, let’s put it this way, is that we want to make sure that we can always see our same health care providers. We want to minimize our outgoings, and how we do that is comparing different options for people at no cost,” said Matthew Weit, regional vice president.

Weit said the group looks at the plan’s premium, expected usage costs, cost over the counter at the pharmacy, and state and federal discount programs their customers may be eligible for. After helping someone get the coverage that best suits their needs, they provide year-round support and advocacy.

The idea for M-Power came from Jamie Radder, the company’s president.

Five or six years ago, Radder’s parents were 65 years old. Radder had a background in health insurance, but Medicare was a completely different animal to regular health insurance.

“It’s great to help people,” he said. “If you can be part of the solution. Do something that was confusing, frustrating, anyway a little easier to understand, make a difference financially for people.

M-Power is able to help a number of states. Their priority objective is between Rochester and Buffalo.

“For a lot of things on Medicare, the plans are very similar,” Radder said. “You could be in Suffolk County; it would be the same plan options you would see here in Orleans.
