Abu Dhabi: Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC) in Abu Dhabi and Tawam Hospital in Al Ain will now accept a wider range of medical insurance coverage, the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (Seha) has announced.

The extension of accepted health insurance cover means that Emiratis and expatriates will now be able to access the care provided by the two establishments.

SKMC is a 531-bed acute care hospital that provides comprehensive medical and surgical services to patients through its 16 outpatient clinics, with specialties such as dentistry, neurology, emergency medicine, dermatology and intensive care. The hospital also includes a renowned pediatric center of excellence.

Between 2019 and 2021, SKMC treated more than 525,648 patients of all ages from the UAE.

Oncology Center

Tawam Hospital, on the other hand, provides care in anesthesiology, emergency medicine, general medicine, oncology, pediatrics, intensive care management, obstetrics and gynecology, radiology, surgery, dentistry and other areas. It treated more than 744,833 patients between 2019 and 2021. The 531-bed hospital has 48 emergency beds, nine operating rooms and 81 specialized clinics. The facility is also well known for its oncology center, the UAE National Cancer Treatment Center.

“Centers of excellence”

“This is another positive step in helping us realize Abu Dhabi’s vision of providing exceptional healthcare to Emirati residents and expatriates. This announcement means that our SKMC’s centers of excellence, such as our specialized and world-class pediatric services, will be available for more types of insurance. In addition to strengthening Seha’s integrated healthcare model, it will expand access to healthcare for adults and children across the emirate, ”said Dr Safa Al Mustafa, Acting Director General of SKMC .

“We welcome the decision to allow Tawam Hospital to accept more types of insured patients. This will ensure that we can extend access to Seha’s world-class services, such as the Tawam Hospital Oncology Center, to even more patients across Abu Dhabi. This announcement will help us in our mission to continue to improve healthcare for all and meet the needs of all patients, ”added Saeed Kuwaiti, CEO of Tawam Hospital.
